Our class worked together to create beautiful bookmarks. We sold the bookmarks at the school store for 25 cents. The bookmarks were so popular that we had to make more! We raised $21.80 which will be donated to a school in Haiti. The children were proud of their work and learned that they can make a difference in the lives of others at home and around the world.
Amazing Children
The children in our class have been getting to know one another and learning to work cooperatively and collaboratively. They amaze me each and every day! The kindness that they show one another is incredible. They are helpful, they use kind words and they practice good manners. I am so proud of them all!
I have spent the past 15 years working with children in some capacity. I started my career in 1994 as a Child Care Counselor at a residential treatment facility for adolescent boys with severe social-emotional disorders. I then became a Director of a School-Age Child Care program in the Jefferson County Public Schools in Denver, Colorado. After four years of working as a Director, I had my first child and decided that I needed to stay home. I am now the mother of three beautiful boys, ages 11, 7, and 5.
When my oldest son began school I became involved by volunteering in the classroom. I found that I loved being in the classroom. I would leave feeling energized. When my youngest son turned three, I went back to school to become a teacher. I completed the Early Childhood Education Teacher Certification Program through the University of Rhode Island. Shortly after student teaching I was offered, and accepted, a long-term substitute position in second grade. I am thrilled to be the new Kindergarten Teacher at Fishing Cove Elementary. I am enjoying these amazing Kindergarten students!
